On a lovely summer’s day with a pleasant breeze gently blowing off a shimmering emerald sea, 13 club members turned out for a good day’s tan with some pétanque on the side.
(Jill G who unfortunately retired sick earlier on, Rohan and Terry were AWOL when the picture was taken.)
Two winners from the three morning leagues plus the two next best-performing players went into the Main and the remaining players into the Plate. Thereafter rolling knockouts would determine the final placings.
In the final, Tony and David A reprised their match in 2008. But this time, it was Tony who came out on top, 13-12, after an intense and long drawn-out struggle. This was Tony’s third Singles title in the last four years, a notable achievement.
Gareth Jarvis came third, and Norman Kanor fourth.
Ian Maynard beat Terry Gibbons to win the Plate.
