Although dry and not actually cold to begin with, it was another blustery day that got dull and chillier as the day wore on. 21 teams turned out, including 5 from our club and three other members playing in ‘mixed’ teams, and several from London.
In brief, the good news (from the club’s point of view) is that Gareth and Alan (Crowborough) reached the final of the Main competition, while Tony and Fergal (ex-BHPC, now London) got to the Main Consolage Final. The bad news is that – there’s no easy way of saying this – they couldn’t find their way to winning a single point between them. The winners of the Main were the exciting duo, Dean Ashby (Kent) and Monty Quaia (London).
The Open was very well organised with many club members pitching in. There will be a full roll-call in the next newsletter which will also include a full, illustrated account of the competition and how our members fared.
For now we pay tribute to our friendly and efficient Catering Team pictured below (plus the chef, Janice, who was on playing duty).
